Free Cataract Surgeries for Indigent patients

In 2009, the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas embarked on the Mulat Mata Program, that offers free Cataract Surgeries every week. Mulat Mata, loosely translated, means “Opening One’s Eyes.”

Thanks to a Memorandum of Agreement signed by the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas and UNTV-News, UNTV-News has had continuous coverage of the weekly free cataract surgeries done by the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas and Bahay Mulat Mata Surgical Center in Quezon City.

From October until the present, at least 3 news spots a month are taken and shown over various news programs of UNTV. The Memorandum of Agreement provides, among others, that UNTV’s public affairs shall refer indigent patients to Bahay Mulat Mata for free surgery and, in turn, UNTV News shall give continuous coverage of the Mulat Mata Program over the various UNTV news shows.
